Dr. Alexia Oetken Receives Prestigious Fellowship Award from Academy of General Dentistry
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Alexia Oetken received the prestigious Fellowship Award (FAGD) during the Academy of General Dentistry’s Convocation ceremony. This ceremony is a commencement celebration that recognizes AGD members’ commitment to high-quality, comprehensive dental education. It was held at the AGD’s Scientific Session on June 9th, 2018 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Fellowship Award symbolizes excellence in the dental profession and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care by remaining current in the field of dentistry.
While at the AGD meeting in New Orleans, Dr. Oetken attended courses with topics including endodontics (root canals) and restorative dentistry (white fillings, porcelain crowns).
In order to receive the Fellowship award, Dr. Oetken completed 500+ hours of continuing dental education in the past 5 years and passed a comprehensive written exam. As a recipient of this award, Dr. Oetken has joined an elite group of the dental community who understand that providing exceptional comprehensive care is a result of going above and beyond basic requirements.
While attaining Fellowship is a challenge, it has been a goal of Dr. Alexia Oetken’s to become a “Fellow” in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) in order to remain current with what is new in dentistry and incorporate the latest techniques into our practice. It is our mission at Exceptional Dentistry to deliver the very best health-centered treatment and provide the highest quality care. Drs. Murray, Berning and Oetken all dedicate hundreds of hours of continuing education to advance our techniques and as a commitment to our craft.
Having now received the Fellowship award, Dr. Oetken is next working towards receiving the Mastership Award (MAGD). The MAGD award is a high honor in the AGD. This award requires 1,000+ hours of continuing education in all disciplines of general dentistry, including 400 hours of hands-on courses.
Dr. Oetken graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics. In addition to the her membership in the AGD, Dr. Oetken is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the Iowa Dental Association. She serves on the Dubuque District Dental Society board as well as the University of Iowa Dental Alumni board.
